Big Sur

Please forgive me for my hiatus. I have neglected my blog to the fullest and I realize I need to update you all on what's been going on.

During June, I decided to drive up to San Francisco for some me time and to hang out with one of my best friends who lives in Pacifica. I wanted to spend the day in Big Sur before driving into the city to just clear my mind and get some alone time with nature. This magical place is nuzzled between Los Padres National Forest and the Pacific ocean. It's extremely easy to pass through Big Sur without realizing you've arrived but once you're there, you'll realize it's one of the most beautiful hidden gems in California. I'm determined to spend a week up there at sometime in the near future but I'll take a day up there any chance I can get.

Big Sur To Do List:

  1. Coffee at Big Sur River Inn - My father took me to this place when I was maybe 14 or 15 and I remember seeing the lounge chairs in the river and thinking this was once of the coolest places I had been to. When I rediscovered it in January it was such a special moment. It is an inn, restaurant, store, and gas station all wrapped into one. I will be staying there at some point, I promise.
  2. Play a game of ping pong Henry Miller Library - This is not your average library, you can play ping pong, catch an outdoor movie screening, do a writing workshop and explore the forest right behind. It's open everyday from 11-6 and it's definitely worth a visit.
  3. Take a picture McWay Falls - If you google Big Sur, a picture of McWay will be the first image to pop up.
  4. Have lunch at Ventana - Although rooms at Ventana are $1000 a night, lunch won't cost you quite as much and the view is stunning.
  5. Stop at any and every turn out and enjoy the beauty - There are tons on turn outs along Highway 1 and I encourage you to stop anytime you see something that makes you say "WOW".
