Desert Getaway

I only had a few days off of work so I decided to do a road trip. Palm Springs is a short two hour drive outside of Los Angeles and I knew it was the perfect place for a quick getaway. I love living in Los Angeles, but sometimes I need to get away from the city for some peace & quiet.  I believe in taking time out for yourself to regroup and refocus. I know 2016 is going to be a huge year for me and I want to be ready for it.
How to get there: Palm Springs is a short two hour drive outside of Los Angeles so the best way to get there is by car. The best way to get around the downtown area is on foot or by bike. If you are looking to head out to Salvation Mountain, which I highly recommend, it’s an hour and half drive.

Where to eat: I did a much better job of eating out on this trip despite the lack of photos.

Pinocchio’s located in downtown Palm Springs is the perfect place for breakfast & brunch. Bottomless champagne for $3.95 is unbeatable! I was drunk before the day started. The service is amazing and recommend the Eggs benedict (I subbed the bacon for Avocado, heaven)

Chi-Chi is located in the Avalon Hotel and although it’s bit pricey, the food totally worth it. If you are dining in a group, order off of the appetizers and split everything. I especially love the Mushroom & Kale Taro Tostadas!

Las Casuelas Terraza is the perfect place if you are looking for traditional Mexican food, which I’m always looking for. I have a friend from out of state who always says that all girls from California are part Mexican because we love Mexican food so much. I don’t dispute it, Mexican is always a good idea. The carne asada tamales were my favorite.

Where to stay:

I stayed at the Avalon Hotel Palm Springs in a one-bedroom suite. I recently got Chase’s Sapphire Preferred credit card which gives you 40,000 points if you spend a certain amount of money within the first couple months of getting the card. You can use your miles towards travel, so I decided to use some of my points for this trip. Signing up for a credit card designed to encourage travel can help to reduce your travel cost. The Avalon Hotel Palm Springs is a boutique hotel with an old Hollywood vibe located in the heart of Downtown Palm Springs. They provide complimentary valet and bikes which were perfect for getting around the area.

What to see & do:

I’m pretty sure the most exciting thing to do in Palm Springs is golf, but because I forgot my clubs, I didn’t partake in any fun on the green. I spent my time relaxing at the hotel, biking around downtown Palm Springs, and stuffing my face. The highlight of my trip was driving out to Calipatria to Salvation Mountain (Read about it here!), otherwise the focus was to relax, regroup, and get ready for the big year ahead of me!
Next stop is Tulum, Mexico! It’s been on my wish list for a few years and I’m so excited to finally go and share my adventures with you all
